Covid-19 Watch: 2,428 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,428 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (Sept 7), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Thursday (Sept 8) that this brings the new total to 4,797,437 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,428, two are imported cases while 2,426 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,673 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 27,076.

Of the active cases, 94.7% or 27,076 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 18 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 5.0% of active cases or 1,341 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 67 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 38 require ventilator support.
